Manga Related Questions
Q: Why isn't (fill in the blank) manga on MangaSpot?
A: If you want a particular manga uploaded onto MangaSpot for
download please email us with a request. Depending on availability
we may upload the series in the future.
Q: I can't read the manga, what is a .rar file?
A: .rar files is an extension made by the file compressor WinRAR. It
is similar to WinZIP, which I'm sure most of you have tried before.
MangaSpot uses WinRAR for all our files, so if you don't have it already please go to
http://www.rarlab.com
and download WinRAR. There is a trial version so you don't have to pay for
it.
Q: Why does MangaSpot use WinRAR and not WinZip.
A: Simply because WinRAR is a better compressor and saves more space
compared to WinZIP. When you have a huge amount of files on the server, significant
amounts of space is saved. Another reason is simply because we prefer WinRAR to
WinZIP.
Anime Related Questions
Q: Why isn't (fill in the blank) anime available to stream?
A: If you want a particular anime uploaded onto our anime streaming channel, please post a request in our forums (in the Anime Request section) and one of the Anime uploaders will look into it ASAP. You are also able to upload the anime yourself by simply clicking the upload tab and following the directions on that page.
Q: I can't stream an anime episode, what do I do?
A: Our anime streams are encoded in Windows Media or Flash or both. If both are available, the Flash plater will play when you view an episode. You can switch to Windows Media Player by clicking "Switch to windows media player", located on top of the stream. You can then switch back to the Flash Player by clicking "Switch to Flash player", located on top of the stream as well. If only Windows Media Player is available, it will play when you view a steam and the switch to flash plater option will not appear. If both players don't work, it means you don't have the necessary plugins. The windows media player plugin can be found here and the flash player can be found here.
Q: How do I watch an anime episode?
A: Choose the anime series you would like to watch from the Video categories located on the bottom right of this page. Then choose the episode of that series you would like to watch. Most episodes will be viewed using Windows Media Player. However a few have the flash player enabled. When watching using Windows Media Player, double click the video to watch in full screen. Request a series you would like to watch in our forums (in the Anime Request section).
Q: How do I upload an anime episode?
A: You're free to upload any anime episode of any anime series as long as its actually a real episode and not some custom thing (AND NO HENTAI). It is recommended that you check if that episode hasn't already been uploaded. Please, we only want anime episodes, anything else can be uploaded to youtube. For the description of the episode, enter the name of the series along with the word "Episode" followed by the number of the episode. Make sure the first letter of every word is capitalized. It takes at most about half a day to a day for an episode to be optimized so have patience. Also, files must be under 500mb to be uploaded so you will have to encode some files. The best format to encode into is .rmvb, since the loss in quality is very minor but it reduces the file size in half. My friends at Crystal Anime have created a very good tutorial on how to encode into .rmvb. It can be found here.
